AFL is a program designed to help keep elderly individuals safe in the comfort of their own homes instead of transitioning them to assisted living facilities or nursing homes. The program provides financial assistance and support to family members or friends who become in home caregivers to the elderly individual in need.

What are the Benefits?
Benefits of the AFL program should be thought of on two levels: Benefits to the individual in need of care “Client” and the individual providing care “caregiver.”
Clients
- Client receives our (AFL Services).
- Care management by a Program Coordinator that visits regularly.
- The agency provides the caregiver with orientation, education, training, and on-going support.
- Client also benefit by living in a family home with care being provided by someone with whom they are comfortable and familiar.
Caregivers
- A tax-free stipend to the caregiver which depends on the Level of Care determined.
- Payment is made biweekly and can be by direct deposit for convenience.
- Time off and or vacation is available.
Do I Qualify?
Client
(The individual in need of care)
- At least 65 years of age.
- Recipient of care must be a Connecticut resident.
- Need assistance with at least one or more activities of daily living (ADL).
Caregivers
(The individual providing care)
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Can be a family relative or friend, but not a spouse.
- May reside and provide care in either the caregiver or senior’s home.
